Operating from June - August, SummerQuest is Amethyst’s 12-week intensive intervention day camp for children ages 6-14 whose mothers are involved in our long-term addiction recovery program. SummerQuest provides a unique opportunity in the Columbus community for women and children who are working to recover their lives from addiction, mental illness, violence and poverty. The children served by SummerQuest have needs that exceed the programmatic abilities at more traditional summer programs. Nationally-acclaimed and supported by the Columbus community, SummerQuest aims to break the cycle of addiction, violence and poverty and provides the tools and framework for families to thrive.

 Camp Highlights:

  • Providing about 13,000 hours of service to kids each summer

  • Serving 35-40 kids per day, and about 50 over the entire summer

  • Award-winning: Exemplary Prevention Program Award from NASADAD and CSAP

  • Introducing an evidence-based cirriculum, Celebrating Families.

  • Enhancing the summer leadership program for teens: with the acquisition of a new van, teens can move off campus more often to participate in more volunteer opportunities and to be more involved with job readiness training.
